  • Sutton Coldfield first to introduce pioneering new scheme

    Thanks to Sutton Coldfield business Rewarding Visits, the town centre has been transformed into a digital high street.

    With a helping hand from Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID, the town has secured part of £1 million pounds of Innovate UK funding, to be the first town to install digital touchpoints in the country.

    This latest technology is an evolution of the existing Sutton Rewards Card scheme and allows shoppers to see current offers available from town centre businesses at interactive voucher touchpoints, situated in The Gracechurch Centre and Empire Cinema.

    Guy Chatburn, managing director at Rewarding Visits comments: “We believe Sutton Coldfield is now the first town in the UK to have installed its own network of interactive terminals, linking local retailers to local people, which is fantastic.”

    “Building on the Sutton Card’s success and the installation of the town centre voucher machines, we are already expanding to two other towns this Autumn. We look forward to working with our pioneering local traders as we develop new features to use here, and elsewhere.”

    Offers displayed on the digital touchpoints are varied and continually changing, giving shoppers access to discounts at over 50 places across the town centre including Ask Italian, Fragrance Shop, Sixth Sense, Cocktail Cosmetics, the Gracechurch Centre car park and more.

    “We’ve supported Rewarding Visits for the past three years, they’re a real asset to the town centre and it’s a great pleasure to work with them to improve our retail offer.”

    “We’re delighted they’ve secured valuable funding from Innovate UK to help us create a digital high street here in the Royal town.”

    “Over 400 organisations had entered the Innovate UK competition, so we know we had developed something special, when they were awarded the funding we needed.  We already had a mobile website, but the interactive touchpoints now help us expand our existing offer as they also give cardholding shoppers the chance to browse and see what is on offer in town, whenever they visit”.

    Sutton Coldfield launched its own scheme to promote local businesses back in 2014, with the introduction of the Sutton Card. Since its introduction the card has gone from strength to strength with over 5,000 individual card holders now registered.

    The Sutton Card is fully connected, enabling users to browse offers via the Rewarding Visits mobile website and now using the interactive voucher touchpoints in town.

    Offers are regularly updated and cardholders can choose to receive exclusive notification of deals, sent to their inbox.
