Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID painted the town purple last weekend to celebrate news of the town centre’s Purple Flag accreditation.

The prestigious accolade, which recognises excellence in the management of the evening and night-time economy was presented to Sutton Coldfield again for the second time earlier in the year and is one of only 70 town centres in the UK that are accredited.

Areas awarded the Purple Flag are recognised for providing a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture, while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents.

Organised by the Sutton Coldfield Business Improvement District the Purple Posse was out informing people about the Purple Flag as well as handing out goodies to those enjoying Sutton Coldfield’s night-time economy.

Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, comments: “We’re extremely proud of Sutton Coldfield’s nightlife offer. With a variety of drinking, dining and dancing experiences available, there is something in the town centre to suit everyone.

“The Purple Flag accreditation is a real honour, it’s the seal of approval which recognises the great work our network of establishment owners and authorities do to ensure the town centre is a safe and attractive nightlife destination.“
